We’ve done a whip around the Stroud Homes team and have come up with our bumper list of things to do over the holday break.
1. Plant a tree or veggie garden
Not a green thumb? Try cherry tomatoes – they grow almost anywhere with no care and are a great addition to salad.
A tree: visit your local nursery they will help you choose a tree that suits the spot you have available. Take care to prepare the soil well, choose a tree that will not outgrow its location and not damage your house! A good nursery can advise you on these.
2. Watch comedian Brian Regan on Youtube
This guy is one of our favourites. Good clean humour about life in general. Good for a laugh.
3. Try a new restaurant
Some of out favourites include:
- The Kalbar Pub: You’ll need to book in a few days ahead if you want to get a table at this unusually popular restaurant in the very small town of Kalbar (about 40 minutes south west of Ipswich in the beautiful Scenic Rim). Visit http://www.royalhotelkalbar.com.au/
- Cafe 17: Although there are several good dining places in Boonah we recommend a wood fired pizza at Cafe’ 17.
- The Railway Hotel in Beaudesert – Serves great meals, very friendly place. Visit: http://www.railwayhotelbeaudesert.com/
- The Mustering Yard Bar & Grill in Jimboomba, best steaks around and their garlic prawns are a must.
4. Visit Stroud Homes Jimboomba office
Drop by our office and zoom in on your favourite Stroud Homes design on our 60 inch big screen. Have a look at LED lighting, display kitchen, bathroom, home inclusions and colour scheme boards. Pick up some brochures and FAQ’s for light reading over the holidays
Holiday opening hours
We will be open throughout the holidays except Monday 24th to Sunday the 30th of December and also closed on 1st January.
5. Drives, walks and other activities
Get your New Year’s resolutions off to a head start with one of these vigorous activities!
The trek ’14 River Crossings’ appropriately named after the 14 river crossings located across this track. This is a good track for the novice four wheel driver who are keen to try creek crossings. This track can be started at either end, from Boonah or past Queen Mary Falls at Killarney.
To commence the track from Boonah, start opposite the Police Station, travel out from Boonah along Rathdowny Road and turn right at Carney’s Creek Road. Travel out approximately 12 kilometres to cross Teviot Brook floodway and then turn right to The Head. The low road is Condamine Gorge. This track is only accessible when the weather is dry, take the high road when river is flowing.
From Killarney, turn left into Condamine Gorge just after the abattoir. During normal conditions the crossings of the Condamine River are relatively shallow. However, during wet weather the river will rise rapidly making it impassable.
Go cast netting and yabbying with the kids at Bribie Island
Approximately an hour north of Brisbane, turn right off the Bruce Highway at Caboolture. Plenty of safe swimming for the kids. Pick up some fishing gear on the way from BCF at Caboolture and good luck fishing.
Visit the Tree Top Rainforest at Mount Tamborine
In a setting of 30 private acres of magnificent rainforest alongside a kilometer of tumbling creek and rookpools. A new eco-adventure exploring the beautiful rainforest canopies and habitat in a different and thrilling way.
