A Year In Review – Matt Lowson of Stroud Homes Northern Rivers
Stroud Homes Northern Rivers owner Matt Lowson describes the past year with the words “Productive, Growing and Consistent”.
With the help of a few new people added to the team, the company has been busy delivering quality homes to clients, and snagged a total of three awards and a commendation at the Northern Rivers Masters Builders 2018 and Housing Industry Australia 2018 Awards.
We talked to Matt about last year’s achievements and his anticipation for the upcoming year…
I really believe teamwork makes the dream work, so I believe having a hard-working team with a great team culture shows in the results within any business.
Matt tells us a little about his dream-team:
We have really enjoyed our Sales Manager Luke Thornley joining us as an official business partner and together we strive to make Stroud Homes Northern Rivers the builder everyone wants to choose through our quality and service, from sales to handover.
Amelia has recently joined Luke in sales and is enthusiastic in offering Strouds’ amazing designs or helping create fully customise homes. Amelia came on-board excited to see the Stroud difference in our customer service and our dedication to giving customers a great building experience. She feels the customers have trust in our quality standard inclusions with no hidden extras to make their journey a happy and positive experience.
The rest of our team have been a pleasure to work with, from Rohan our dedicated Site Manager, out there supervising construction, to Larnah, our Contract Administrator. Larnah has been busy servicing our customers through the big process of paperwork, councils and so much more.
Sandy our Accounts Manager has been with us for close to four years and is a great pillar for our team. Jonathan assists the whole team and is in charge of estimating, ensuring every brick, tile and tap in your home gets ordered and delivered.
What was the biggest hurdle you or your business overcame in 2018?
The banks are making it a little tougher and more time consuming for our customers to secure loans for sure this year.
Also, land registration on many developments and estates are getting pushed out which can be frustrating for everyone, especially our customers, but we just make sure we have everything else finalised so we are 100% ready once the land is registered.
We were the first to start building in Epiq Estate Lennox Heads well before everyone else because of this super vigilant attitude we have toward getting things done!
A lot of people are adding granny flats to new and existing buildings so we have seen an increase in these small dwellings. With designs like the Mini-Tego, we believe we can offer a great product that adds such value to the property and future capital growth.
Similarly, we are doing more second dwelling type projects as Dual Occupancy and Duplex designs as well. We also find that our customers love the upgraded stand out Stroud Facades such as the Mountain or Skillion as they look so appealing, and again, add such value.
Moving forward we have some exciting builds to start and finish that we believe will add to our wall of Building Awards.

Lastly, any important dates or milestones we should know about for 2019?
Our new display we hope to have open and ready early to mid year, and maybe a second one not too far after that as well.
