A Year In Review – VJ Tran from Stroud Homes Canberra
Stroud Homes Canberra opened up their doors to much fanfare in May last year and are now looking forward to another exciting building year ahead.
We spoke to Canberra builder VJ Tran about the highlights of last year and his expectations on what’s to come in 2019.
Aside from the obvious thrill in opening up shop back in the first half of the year, VJ said meeting new people, both clients and fellow franchisees, counted towards the year’s many highlights, as well as receiving lots of positive feedback from clients they’ve been working with during the year.
“Three words that would describe 2018 for Stroud Homes Canberra would be Proud to Be Stroud,” VJ said and described his excitement for contract signing in anticipation of work to commence in the new year.
“The Stroud Homes Canberra team is absolutely looking forward to a productive 2019,” he added. “Completing new home builds for our current and future clients…and the joys of “handing over the keys” to their much-anticipated home, sweet homes.”
As relative “newbies” to the Canberra building market, one of the biggest hurdles for the company was to establish market confidence and awareness about Stroud Homes Canberra and the Stroud Homes brand in the region, according to VJ.
Not yet having a display home or completed homes to show off were other items he would like to see change this year.
“These are in the plans and we can’t wait to show the ACT what it means to build with Stroud Homes Canberra,” he said.
Similar to several other Stroud Homes franchisees, VJ noted an increased number of people interested in knockdown/rebuilds.
With Canberra being a city which is continually expanding with new suburbs popping up (such as Burrabella, Ginninderry, Throsby, Wright, Taylor, Denman and more), blocks in the already established suburbs with more generous land sizes were also popular as they could provide new home owners greater options to build their new dream home with dual living options.

Being the primary driver of operations for the Canberra office and team, VJ said he will focus this year on establishing the business as a reputable local building company by maintaining and providing top service to all current and upcoming projects.
“It is my goal in 2019 to continue and establish the Stroud Homes brand in Canberra and surrounding regions,” he said.
VJ also wants the company to keep giving back to the community and supporting the younger generation, which they will do by sponsoring a local sporting club. The team will be selected and announced later this year.
We wish Stroud Homes Canberra the best of luck in 2019 and look forward to their first display home, which is currently under way. Make sure to follow their Facebook for news and progress of all their upcoming projects!
