Looking to Build on Acreage on the Gold Coast?

The Gold Coast is truly an amazing place to live, but for some, the busier suburbs are becoming too noisy and the lack of privacy is having people move out on acreage instead.

And isn’t it just something magical about the wide, open spaces of an acreage lifestyle that call for the perfect country home design to bring the dream to life?

According to Stroud Homes Salesperson Martin Smith, a lot of extended families coming together nowadays are looking for larger blocks where they can take advantage of the full size of the land.

We chat to Martin bout building acreage homes on the Gold Coast.

What you’ll need to know

“The pros with acreage builds are having a large sized home at the end of the build, a large block of land to enjoy life, family, pets and rural living,” says Martin.

But before opting for an acreage home, there’s a list of things you’ll need to consider. The main questions you should ask yourself are:

  • Do I need a HSTP system and water tank or is town water/sewerage available?
  • What is the scrub and bushland like around the block? Will this put the home in danger if a bushfire came through?
  • What clearing, if any, needs to be done?
  • Will there be extra site work costs?
  • How much will the build cost me?

“We build a lot of acreage properties so we aren’t faced with anything we haven’t seen before,” adds Martin.

Happy Handover – Modified Acreage Design

Leigh and Kenny with Leigh’s parents Daryl & Rose designed a dual living home together and partnered it up with their acreage block in Kingsholme in the Montego Hills estate.

They chose our Kentucky 348 classic façade to use as base plan and added a one bedroom flat to Rose’s specifications.

We had lots of fun with this one and thoroughly enjoyed the journey along the way.
