Building In The Melbourne North Growth Corridor

While land prices closer to the Melbourne CBD continue to rise, David Kirby from Stroud Homes Melbourne North sees promise for building in his local area.

“We have one of the largest growth corridors in Melbourne for the next twenty years, and as the land prices closer to Melbourne get higher, the value for land in the area is too good to overlook,” he says.

That’s why it’s a good time to build, with a number of new estates opening up, and a lot of choice when it comes to builders.

While there is a range of people looking to build locally, from young budget buyers, to lavish second and third time home builders, David says many still find themselves locked in with the wrong builder.

He sees that many builders don’t communicate with the customer enough, often leaving them out of the building process, rather than keeping them abreast of everything.

“I would look for a builder that’s local,” he suggests, “not a major company where you never even meet the builder.”

David likes to work with clients to find a home design that works for their lifestyle, their land, and still stands out from the rest.

“I like a wow factor in every home, be it taking advantage of the view, an entertaining area or another feature – our designs have a different style to the norm.”

“If we’re talking large property homes, I like the Kentucky 348 with classic façade as this provides a wonderful entertaining area and takes advantage of the views a large property provides.

“For smaller blocks, the Como 186 with colonial façade works well, as it separates the parents from the children (I have teenagers!)”
