Building Split Level Homes in Adelaide Hills
With house and land prices continuing to rise, it might be a good idea to look into buying a sloping block. The steeper the slope is, the cheaper the block of land is.
Sloping block means you will have less excavation and fill, less retaining wall and a gentler sloping driveway.
Also, sloping blocks can provide outstanding views, and if your builder is working with the natural restrictions of the land, a sloping block may also result in a better design and more interesting development.
Stroud Homes Adelaide Hills are your split level home specialists and the team has extensive experience in building split level designs.
We will work with your block to give you the best home for your budget and your needs.
A split level design consists of two separate levels. With a single storey at the front of the home and a double story at the rear – or vice versa.
For sites with over 3 meters of fall in the building envelope, this is the perfect design option.
Pretty much all Stroud Homes’ designs can be tailored to a split-level. See our Split-level designs page for more information about this type of home.
“We can do a triple split or a double split for our clients,” says Stroud Homes Adelaide Hills builder Gary Barlow. “I think front to back is the best – sloping downwards so you garage is one height and then you step down into the lower part of the house,”
“Instead of doing a big cut and fill where you would need larger retaining walls that are engineered, which would cost a lot of money, you can spend that money in the split and make that home work with the land and have a much nicer finish.”
“I prefer to see peoples cash go into the actual home rather than into retaining.”
Split level homes usually takes a little longer than other builds and are not cover by the 16 week build time guarantee. However, the team still gives you a build time, which is usually around 20-24 weeks.
Stroud Homes Adelaide Hills has a split level design home, with a split over 4.5 meter on the block, currently underway at Scarlet Crest.
“We have just put the timber frame up and the customer is ecstatic,” says Gary.
“We’re also trying to keep the retaining under 1 meter so it doesn’t need engineering, which will keep the cost down as well.”
The Paddington 240 is a feature packed design and has all the components of a great family home home, including an efficient galley kitchen forming a perfect chef’s triangle.
The design also boasts a large open plan living area which provides a great family living environment. The spacious master bedroom, ensuite and walk in robe make for relaxed comfortable living.
