Geelong’s Home Building Surge
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Geelong’s residential building growth is booming at the moment with building approvals jumping 33 per cent in August.
This is great news for investors, first-home buyers and our resident Stroud Homes Geelong builder, Michael Gray.
“This boom doesn’t surprise us as we’re seeing it in our business at the moment,” says Michael. “Many Melburnians are making the move from Melbourne to Geelong due to the affordability of land and homes in Geelong.”
Geelong land sales are affordable for families. There are loads of estates to choose from, all you have to do is choose which area you want to live in!
The Armstrong Creek area offers a great lifestyle choice because it is close to the Surfcoast and Bellarine Peninsula for those that like the beach and fishing lifestyle.
Lara, Bannockburn and Teesdale are also proving popular due to the size of the blocks of land available for families. Families can live on acreage in these areas.
We have a broad range of families; from first home builders, growing families and retirees. We also have families who are new to the region, families who are making the move from the East of Victoria to Geelong.
Geelong is positioned in a spot that has great accessibility to the Melbourne CBD. It’s just a short one hour drive or a ride on the train and you’re in the heart of Melbourne.
Geelong is also just 15 to 30 mins from the Surfcoast, which offers an amazing lifestyle for surfing and those who love the beach. Geelong offers great lifestyle living with its proximity to Melbourne, Surfcoast and the You Yangs.
The area offers a bright and vibrant community spirit. There are always amazing events happening within the community, such as the recent Christmas Tree Lighting event.
There isn’t a weekend that doesn’t have an event for the community to attend, there is something for everyone!

We would have to say the favourite feature of the Wildflower range is the child’s retreat and its proximity to the children’s bedrooms. This gives the children their own wing of the house and parents love this.
With the Montego Range everyone is loving the layout with the garage in its unique position. Also, everyone loves the large alfresco and the open spaces of the living areas of the Montego.
What do you think is the most important when building a family home?
We think the most important aspect for families when building their dream home is the layout and the flow of the home.
Most families want their home to have areas where the kids can relax and be kids and an area for the adults to do the same; but also maintain the house with ease.
