Guide to Spring Cleaning

Its time to put away your winter woollies and extra blanket, because spring is finally here! But you know what that means… it’s spring cleaning time.

You might be about to sell your house, either to upsize or downsize or move to a new area and really want to squeeze the maximum out of your old property so you get more in your pocket or you might just want to freshen up after having everything closed up for the last few months to keep out the cold.

Whatever the reason maybe we have put together a helpful guide to presenting your home for sale!

Cleaning Gutters

When it comes to the important annual tasks like cleaning your gutters if you don’t take safety precautions you could end up with an injury or even damaging your property.

Keeping gutters clear will prevent potential structural damage to your property and it is best left to a roof and gutter professional who understands the safety risks involved.

Safety First

But if you are venturing on the ladder to clean your own gutters, its important to take some safety steps:

  • Be especially careful when working near power lines attached to your house.
  • Before starting work, ensure electrical supply to the home is isolated and that it will not be turned on.
  • Use battery powered tools while on the roof.
  • Inspect your ladder first for any defects and loose parts. Have someone hold the ladder while you climb. At the very least let someone know you are working on the roof.
  • Wear gloves and protective eyewear to shield yourself from bacteria. Protective clothing will help ward off insect bites while rubber soled shoes are best for preventing falls.

It might just be worth the extra money to have a professional come and do the job, so you can get back to spending time with your family and not need to have any time off work for an avoidable injury.
