Hard Work & Customer Service Make For Successful First Year

Building Family HomesIt was a busy first year for Matt and Nicky Lowson of Stroud Homes Northern Rivers, who threw themselves into the new business and gave it everything they had.

“When we first started Nicky and I committed everything to this business, we believed in it 200 per cent and we quite literally ate noodles for six months”, Matt recalls

But the hard work has paid off as they have a solid reputation with happy customers and recently received two awards at the Stroud Homes AGM.

“Exceptional Customer Service / Best Quality Homes”

New Home HandoverThe first award Matt and Nicky proudly picked up was for Exceptional Customer Service – Best Quality Homes, which is just reward considering their focus always been on servicing the customers.

Matt likes to point out the quality of the homes they build is very much a part of that dedicated customer service.

“You can’t hand a terrible house over and have great customer service, it’s got to be a combination”, he says.

As a family team Matt and Nicky have built a number of family homes and kept in contact with those they’ve built for to see how they’re going in their new homes after the move.

“Our product is now proven and it’s selling itself – the business has momentum with happy customers recommending us to others.”

“Biggest Market Share”

The second award they took home was a bit of a surprise – Biggest Market Share.

What that means, according to HIA figures, is Stroud Homes Northern Rivers are selling the most new homes compared to other building companies operating in the area.

“The reason why we’re so excited about that is that one feeds the other – we’re getting good, consistent sales now because we’re getting a really good product out there and our name’s becoming synonymous with quality homes.”

Matt sees this as a circle that comes around back to their first award.

“That was our main objective from day one, to get to the point we’re well known for good quality homes, so what we end up delivering is a high quality result with happy customers”, Matt says.

From Tweed Heads to Northern Rivers

Kentucky 348 Mountain FacadeThe recognition of their market share goes hand in hand with the recent rebrand of their location from Stroud Homes Tweed Heads to Stroud Homes Northern Rivers.

“What that means for our customers is we’re not just the Tweed Heads builder – we’re in Kyogle, we’re in Casino, we’re in Lismore, we’re in Ocean Shores, we’re in Ballina, Byron – we are a Northern Rivers builder, rather than a Tweed Heads builder.

In the past year Matt and Nicky have finished six builds for local Northern Rivers Families, with two more due for completion before the end of the year and another seven in various stages of construction.

The Year Ahead

After a successful first year there are no signs of slowing for Matt and Nicky in 2016, with seven homes already due for completion in the first few months.

“We’ve got our display home in Ballina aiming for a mid-year opening and we’ve been increasing our staff because of the volume of work we’ve got coming through from a really good late season charge with regards to sales.”
