Making Changes To Your Home Design

Making Changes To Your Home Design

Changing our Designs

When you are thinking about building your home, it’s only natural to have questions for your builder.

Ben Glyde from Stroud Homes Brisbane West answers some frequently asked questions they receive about making changes to the tried and tested Stroud Homes designs.

Am I allowed to make changes to a Stroud Homes Brisbane West home design?

Absolutely, we have an inhouse architect (Tony) who can alter any of our floorplans or create a whole new design to suit your exact needs.

If I want to make changes, who do I talk to?

Come in to one of our stunning display homes and have a chat with either Peter or James, they will be able to sit down with you and discuss the changes you would like to have made.

If I decide on a change that will negatively impact the overall design, will you let me know?

Absolutely, Tony is here to consult with you into making your home perfect. Tony has had decades of experience as an architect, so he knows exactly what will and won’t work.

Will I get to see new house plans with the changes I’ve requested?

Tony will first hand sketch your new changes to show exactly what you have asked for. If you are happy with those changes they will then be implemented into your full working drawings, ready to be built.

If I make changes to the design, will it affect the cost?

It mainly depends on the types of changes, but if you aren’t changing floor sizes or altering anything structural, then the answer is typically no, there won’t be any cost involved.

Come and have a chat to Peter or James to see if the changes you are looking to make would incur any cost.

How much should I take re-sale into consideration when I make changes?

Being able to on sell your house is always something you should consider, and your bank/financier will probably look at that too before they will give you a loan.

Most minor changes are unlikely to affect the value of your home. If it is something you like, then chances are there are other people out there that will like it too when you are looking to sell.

What is one common change people like to make?

One of our most common change requests is to add the master bedroom from our Waterlily/Wildflower design to one of our other designs.

The master bedroom and ensuite design in these homes is certainly a fan favourite!

Can you give me an example of a successful change a Stroud Homes Brisbane West client has made to a design?

Every so often we get requests to alter a plan to be completely wheelchair accessible. This includes widening hallways, changing doors to cavity sliders, and putting grab rails/accessible bathroom fixtures in to ensure our clients have a home custom built to their exact needs.
