Our HIA & QMBA Double Award Winning Home
While Saturday night this home received the HIA award for “Best Use of Face Brick” – sponsored by Austral Bricks, earlier this year it also won a Queensland Master Builders Award for “Individual Home $301,000 – 350,000”, now making it a two time award winner!
Presenting a 30 metre wide frontage, large glass sliding doors and windows everywhere, this home was designed to bring the outdoors in and allow you to enjoy every bit of scenery your property has to offer.
As a four bedroom, two bathroom acreage home, the Vermillion comes with a library, study, media room, family and dining room, an incredibly popular large galley kitchen, as well as sporting a brilliant alfresco and outdoor kitchen area for entertaining.
While this design has a number of façade options, for this build the client proposed a blend of red and white coloured bricks for the exterior.
This was a very different look to what is being done in the area at the moment, with rendering becoming very common.
The team is keen to work with customer suggestions, at the same time as being always mindful to let them know if their suggestions might not work.
“Stroud Homes has a virtuous process where we work with our clients to deliver the home they want, but a home that is good quality,” James Stroud says.
“Everyone hears of architects coming up with impractical ideas, well clients do too sometimes and it’s not their fault because they’re not building experts,” he says.
But the team felt it was a worthwhile concept and committed to the new brick colour scheme.
The interesting thing is that during the construction process the owner found them quite confronting and thought “this is too much, they’re just too bold.”
Although it took a bit of getting used to for the customer they’ve found the bold look to really grow on you, standing out as a great, unique looking home that everyone is excited about.
“The amazing part of the story is it unexpectedly won two awards. It’s so easy to get into a rut with what you’re building, but this has grown on us. It’s different,” James says.
