Stroud Homes Bundaberg Supports Local Community Group

Stroud Homes Supports Angels Community Group Initiative

Stroud Homes Bundaberg owners are a locally born and bred family that come from a long line of second generation builders and a strong family history of giving back to the local community.

Owners Aletha and Slade Walters are always on the look-out for initiatives that they can support in the local region.

Angels Community Group

Recently, the Bundaberg duo assisted with a community project in the local area, the Angels Community Group, helping kids to a good start back at school.

We chat to Aletha about the initiative and why community involvement is so important to the popular home builder.

Can you tell me about the Angel Community Group project and how you helped?

The Angels Community Group is a registered local charity and community-based organisation where the founding members have realised the power that comes from giving people a purpose.

This has been accomplished by creating a supportive environment where people experiencing a sense of loss (the loss of a loved one, a job, a relationship or even the loss of identity or life direction) are able to achieve or regain the confidence and skills necessary to lead meaningful social and economic lives through personal growth and a sense of worth, among other important life facets.

Getting involved

We have been watching this organisation grow within our region over the last few years and got involved with their Christmas present drive and then we got on board with their Back to School program for children in need – through no fault of their own.

With over 150 students on their School backpack list and growing, we knew that we needed to assist wherever possible.

Every child deserves to start the year back at school like everyone else, with a backpack, lunch box, books and pencil case full of stationary supplies and we were able to help them do that.

Why was this initiative important for you?

This initiative was important to us because we have four children of our own – and we understand how expensive this time of the year can be for many families.

Every child regardless of background deserves the right to go to school with all the resources required to ensure that they are given every opportunity to succeed.

I believe this is a universal right and one that I am passionate about. Education changes people and our society as a whole. The more we nurture this – we believe the better our community will become.

Why is it important for Stroud Home to support and be involved in the local community?

We are a large employer in our local region and we understand the impact that we can have on local families who become dependent on the work that we provide.

We are in a privileged position where we can assist the direct channeling of money through donations from suppliers, contracts and clients to areas where it is required.

Through donations from several other contractors we were able to donate up to $1500 in back to school needs through this pooling of resources.

What other local projects or initiatives have Stroud Home supported in the past, and are you planning to assist any more this year?

We are always on the look out for initiatives that we can support in our local region. We will be working with the Angels Community Group throughout the year to ensure that they have all the resources they need to meet their requirements.

Thank You!

A BIG thank you to Aletha and Stroud Homes Bundaberg for everything the team has done for the community, and will continue to do in the future.
